Call Time

The designated arrival time for cast and crew, essential for maintaining the efficiency and pacing of professional photography and video productions.

Call Time designates the exact moment when the cast, crew, and production staff are required to be present and ready to begin their duties on set. In the high-velocity world of e-commerce photography, Call Time is the anchor of the call sheet, ensuring that complex productions—ranging from high-volume Catalog photography to specialized Mini-campaigns—remain on schedule.

At JU Productions, Call Time is strictly observed across our global intake hubs in Singapore, the United States, and China to maintain our industry-leading efficiency. Whether we are executing a Scheduled Lookbook® or a bespoke Creative shoot, the Call Time coordinates the arrival of the Lead Photographer, HMUA, and styling teams to ensure that the transition from product intake to final capture is seamless and cost-effective for our global retail partners.

Why It Matters

In the context of high-end production, time is a finite resource. Call Time is the strategic starting point that prevents 'down time' and maximizes the number of SKUs or creative assets captured per day. For global brands shipping products to JU Productions, an adhered-to Call Time ensures that your production stays within budget and meets tight go-to-market deadlines.

Examples

1. A staggered call time where the lighting crew arrives at 07:00, the Art Director arrives at 08:00, and the talent arrives at 08:30 for HMUA. 2. A 09:00 Call Time for a Scheduled Lookbook® session in our Singapore hub to ensure all 50 SKUs are captured by EOD.

How to Apply

Brands should review the Call Sheet provided by JU Productions 24 hours in advance. Ensure that all product samples have arrived at the designated hub (USA, China, or Singapore) well before the Call Time. If you are participating in a creative review, be online at the Call Time to prevent delays in the first shot of the day.

Common Mistakes

Assuming Call Time is a 'flexible' arrival window; arriving at Call Time but not being 'ready' to work (e.g., needing to eat or prep after arrival); and failing to account for time zone differences when coordinating with JU’s global production hubs.

Pro Tip

For brands attending shoots remotely via our global hubs, treat the Call Time as your 'Ready Time.' Ensure your internal stakeholders are available for the initial kick-off call to approve the first lighting setups, as this sets the pace for the entire production day.
