Founding Software Engineer (Shopify Apps & Full-Stack Development) – Hanoi

About the Role

We are hiring our first engineer, a highly versatile developer who can move fast, build prototypes independently, and turn product ideas into working software. The primary focus will be Shopify app development, but you will also lead the creation of internal tools, backend services, and full-stack web applications.

This is a rare opportunity to work as a founding technical member, influence the tech stack, and shape how engineering operates in the company.

What You Will Do

• Build Shopify apps from scratch (Admin API, Storefront API, OAuth, Billing, Webhooks).

• Rapidly prototype new product ideas and iterate based on feedback.

• Develop full-stack apps using Node.js + React (or Next.js/Remix).

• Set up architecture, databases, auth flows, and deployments.

• Implement clean API integrations with external services.

• Create internal admin dashboards, automation tools, and workflows.

• Ensure reliability: webhook verification, rate limit handling, error logging.

• Write concise documentation so future engineers can scale the codebase.

• Collaborate directly with the founder(s) to turn business requirements into technical solutions.

Who You Are

• Strong English communication — able to discuss product requirements clearly.

• 2–4+ years full-stack engineering experience.

• Real experience building Shopify custom or public apps.

• Highly comfortable working independently without hand-holding.

• Fast prototyper — able to produce MVPs in days, not weeks.

• Strong in:

  • Node.js / TypeScript

  • React / Next.js / Remix

  • REST + GraphQL

  • SQL or NoSQL databases

• Experience deploying apps (Vercel, Render, Supabase, AWS, Cloudflare Workers).

• Ownership mindset — treat problems as yours to solve, not tasks to wait for.

Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with Shopify Polaris, App Bridge, or Hydrogen.

• Background in e-commerce automation.

• Comfort with serverless and lightweight microservices.

• Ability to suggest technical improvements and drive engineering decisions.
